Girls Camp 2009 "The Amazing RACE" (Remaining Anchored in Christ Eternally)

This last week I had the great opportunity to spend a week at girls camp with our young women.

Cheryl, Lauryn, Stephanie, Janessa, Laurel, Megan, Me, Courtney, Denise,
Natalie, Kirsten, Cheryl, Linda and Jessica
It was Stake camp and our ward had the smallest group there, but, they were the absolute BEST group of girls and made camp so much fun! Each ward had to come up with a camp name and design a flag so we were the "Scallywaggs". The smaller pieces were their own individual designs.

Seriously LOVE these girls.

A climbing wall was brought in for us all to use and here I am waiting to get strapped onto the pully thing.

Climbing the wall, we all quickly discovered, was easier with shoes and socks off. It looked like an easy task from the ground but that thing was higher and harder then it looked.

I made it to the top!

The repelling down was the funnest part. I had a small moment of doubt and hesitation before I let go to begin my descent. It was really high and I worried that it wouldn't really hold my weight. But it did, phew, and it was a ton of fun!

We also got to learn how to do archery. The guy in the picture was adjusting my hips because I had them turned too far forward.

I had three turns and the first two turns I aimed too high and missed the box. I was really wanting to hit the box so I could hear my arrow make the satisfying "thunk" noise.

Finally success on my third and final turn. Yes the "thunk" was very satisfying and fun!

On thursday I went with my cute Beehives on our three mile hike.

We were ready but kinda scared! :)

We made it to the turn around point. At this point we stopped and I gave the girls letters from home that their Moms had sent up. It is a tradition on the hike to get the letters. I felt left out because I didn't get a letter from my Mom. Man she really dropped the ball on that one..hehehe :)
Notice that we are missing one girl? That is becasue Jessica tripped and hit her knee on a tree root and didn't want to continue. She went back to camp with some of the older girls.

Hiking in the woods makes a person tough!

THe last night we had testimony meeting which was awesome and then the girls are kinda let loose to have fun and stay up late.
The older girls wanted to take the beehives on a snipe hunt. So we got our pillow cases, rubbed toothpaste on our face (Snipes like the toothpaste smell), and off we went.

After being scared by Kirsten jumping out at us dressed like a wolf, Stephanie caught a snipe! She kept it in her pillow case and all of the girls were able to touch it. After she let it go we all set off to watch Kirsten go around with her mask on to scare the heck out of all the other campers and leaders. She gave lots of people a good scare and all of us some good laughs!
This years girls camp was one of the best I have ever been to. The girls in our ward were kind and loving to each other, there was not any complaining, we all just had a lot of fun. A couple of swimming pools were brought in for the use of the camp and on thursday our entire group got in one of the pools to mess around and play. It was alot of fun splashing and dunking each other and made for some great memories and bonding time! I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to go and get to know the girls better. They all are so special and I really do love them!
I can't wait to do it again next year!
