St Patricks Day 2013

This year st. Patricks Day fell on a Sunday. That was pretty fun dressing up in our best green Sunday clothes. I was pretty disappointed by the lack of green I saw sitting in church but happy that at least my family had holiday spirit. Of course the Leprechauns visited our house and made mischief again. Once again there was some green tinkle left in our toilet. We did find gold chocolate coins scattered across the floor which made up for having to clean up the messes left by our little friends.

No St. Patricks Day is complete without a traditional Green Irish dinner. :o)
Corned beef
Red Potatoes
Green Watergate salad
Green Salad

Happy 6th Birthday Rylee!!

This year Rylee finally got to have her friend party. Her birthday fell during track break and so I needed to make sure to get the invitations to school before everyone went on break. I did not have a list of the girls in her class so i sent in a note to her teacher asking if she would send me a list of all the girls so that we do not leave anyone out. Later that day I got an email with the names of seven girls. I was surprised that  there were so few girls in her class but made out the invitations. I went in to school that Friday morning and gave the invites to her teacher while there i took the opportunity to question on the so few a number of girls in the class. Mrs Leach confirmed that they did not have a lot o girls and I let it go and went to copy some papers for her.  When I got done with my job I went back to the classroom to drop the papers off and counted about 13 girls in there. I was so confused but didn't want to question her teacher again. I decided to let it go. It is weird that she only put a few girls on the list and i will never know why she was so confused but I am kind of glad I didn't have to host a ton of girls. :o)
Rylee wanted a Tinkerbell theme party and so I did my best to go along with that.

When the girls first arrived I had them sit and do an art project, painting wooden butterflies. I found the butterflies at Craft Warehouse for about 30 cents a butterfly so I was happy for a cheap yet fun and entertaining craft to do. The kids really enjoyed it also.

After that we played hot potato with a Tinkerbell wand. You can see in the background that two of the Moms stayed during the party. At first it was a bit awkward but I got over it and enjoyed having people there to talk to.

I taught the girls a Tinkerbell dance that I taught my dancers last year for recital but they were not too into it so we played lots of freeze dance instead.
After what seemed like forever to Rylee she finally got to open her presents.
Skittles and money from Grandma Bonnie or "Gamu Bone" as Rylee sounded out and wrote in her thank you note..love it!

Rylee requested an actual cake and not cupcakes, she was very specific about that. The Tinkerbell and friends decorations were the same ones I used on one of Kenedys cakes when she was younger, kind of fun!

After her friends left we had Rylee open her presents from us. Somehow we managed to do a Rapunzel theme with her gifts.

Rylee got a grand total of 21 dollars for her birthday this year from all of her Grandmas, she immediately took that money, minus her tithing, and put it in her piggy bank. I love that she saves all of her money and puts it all in her piggy bank. She gets excited anytime she finds even a penny and immediately sticks it in her bank.

Rylee's Favorite Things:
Color: Blue and Orange
Food: Chicken Nuggets
Candy: Skittles
Primary song: I am a Child of God
Radio Song: Beauty and the Beat by Justin Bieber

Thing about school: Playing outside
Friend: Mom
Book: Dora Books
Movie: The Little Mermaid
TV Show: SpongeBob Squarepants
Toy: Baby Doll Lisa
Outside Activity: Play with friends
Place to go: Mcdonalds
Thing about being 6: That she can be taller

5 things I love about Rylee:

1) I love Rylee's cuddles. She is super cuddly and always willing to give me hugs and kisses. If I am sad or not feeling well she is quick to hug me and make me feel better.

2) Of all my kids Rylee is the most generous. She shares anything and everything. She is also good at being helpful to me and doing what I ask her to do.

3) She is a funny kid. She likes to have fun and be silly and I like watching her enjoy life.

4) I said it before but I like Rylee being a saver and putting all of her money in her piggy bank. When that thing is full she is going to have quite a bit of money to buy something with. Or maybe she will just start a new piggy bank. That would be fun!

5) Rylee works hard in school and is excited to be able to learn to read. I think we will have another book worm on our hands when she finally gets the hang of reading.

Nick Vujicic

If you have not of this guy get on youtube and start watching videos. My friend told me about him one day while we were perusing the bookstore and I found a book he wrote. He is an Australian who was born without any limbs. After going through a really hard life as a kid he grew up to become an amazing motivational speaker.
I bought a couple of his books and have been a bit fascinated with this man who has been everywhere speaking to people about hope and life. When i found out he was going to be here in Meridian speaking at Meridian Middle school I was quite excited. I found out when the assembly was going to be held and I took my younger three kids with me who were off on track break and Breana. When we got there we sat in the back so that the middle school kids could fill up the closer seats. After a little bit the principal came by and told us we could move to the reserved seats in the front. So yes we had front row seats, amazing!! This assembly was also being broadcast live to the entire state of Idaho. I found out later from friends who watched it on TV that me and my kids were shown a couple of times. Yay! I hope I looked OK :o)
He was amazing to listen to and so inspiring. A lot of his message was about hope and then anti bullying. Such a great thing for kids this age to hear. I am glad that I was able to have all four of my kids there to listen and get inspired by this great man!
