A Diva In The Making

Yesterday I took the kids to the park and when it was time to go I told them to hurry and get in the car because we had to go to the grocery store. This is how Avynlea responded..."OK but take us home first so I can brush my hair again, it got messy"!

This little girl is starting young with her diva training!

Girls Camp 2009 "The Amazing RACE" (Remaining Anchored in Christ Eternally)

This last week I had the great opportunity to spend a week at girls camp with our young women.

Cheryl, Lauryn, Stephanie, Janessa, Laurel, Megan, Me, Courtney, Denise,
Natalie, Kirsten, Cheryl, Linda and Jessica
It was Stake camp and our ward had the smallest group there, but, they were the absolute BEST group of girls and made camp so much fun! Each ward had to come up with a camp name and design a flag so we were the "Scallywaggs". The smaller pieces were their own individual designs.

Seriously LOVE these girls.

A climbing wall was brought in for us all to use and here I am waiting to get strapped onto the pully thing.

Climbing the wall, we all quickly discovered, was easier with shoes and socks off. It looked like an easy task from the ground but that thing was higher and harder then it looked.

I made it to the top!

The repelling down was the funnest part. I had a small moment of doubt and hesitation before I let go to begin my descent. It was really high and I worried that it wouldn't really hold my weight. But it did, phew, and it was a ton of fun!

We also got to learn how to do archery. The guy in the picture was adjusting my hips because I had them turned too far forward.

I had three turns and the first two turns I aimed too high and missed the box. I was really wanting to hit the box so I could hear my arrow make the satisfying "thunk" noise.

Finally success on my third and final turn. Yes the "thunk" was very satisfying and fun!

On thursday I went with my cute Beehives on our three mile hike.

We were ready but kinda scared! :)

We made it to the turn around point. At this point we stopped and I gave the girls letters from home that their Moms had sent up. It is a tradition on the hike to get the letters. I felt left out because I didn't get a letter from my Mom. Man she really dropped the ball on that one..hehehe :)
Notice that we are missing one girl? That is becasue Jessica tripped and hit her knee on a tree root and didn't want to continue. She went back to camp with some of the older girls.

Hiking in the woods makes a person tough!

THe last night we had testimony meeting which was awesome and then the girls are kinda let loose to have fun and stay up late.
The older girls wanted to take the beehives on a snipe hunt. So we got our pillow cases, rubbed toothpaste on our face (Snipes like the toothpaste smell), and off we went.

After being scared by Kirsten jumping out at us dressed like a wolf, Stephanie caught a snipe! She kept it in her pillow case and all of the girls were able to touch it. After she let it go we all set off to watch Kirsten go around with her mask on to scare the heck out of all the other campers and leaders. She gave lots of people a good scare and all of us some good laughs!
This years girls camp was one of the best I have ever been to. The girls in our ward were kind and loving to each other, there was not any complaining, we all just had a lot of fun. A couple of swimming pools were brought in for the use of the camp and on thursday our entire group got in one of the pools to mess around and play. It was alot of fun splashing and dunking each other and made for some great memories and bonding time! I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to go and get to know the girls better. They all are so special and I really do love them!
I can't wait to do it again next year!

Boating fun

On Saturday we went out to the Owyhee Dam to go tubing and knee boarding. I gave all of the kids the option of staying at the farm with Grandma and Grandpa but they all wanted to go in the boat. Keffords three little sisters and one brother also came with us.
Rylee really is excited to be in the boat...

can't you tell?

Kenedy, Ryker and Avynlea wearing life jackets and ready for some boating fun!
First up is me and Breana.

I think this is the point where I am yelling at Bre that I am about to slide off.

Sure enough in I went and here I am trying to pull myself back onto the tube. Not as easy as it looks people!

Breana flying solo cause I fell in the water again.

Waiting to start up. We saw another boat that had some friends of ours and Kefford pulled us right next to them and practically right on top of the cute little girls on their own inner tube. I had to do some twisting so we wouldn't hit them

and I fell off again

this time Breana came down with me!

We decided to give it a rest and let Ryker go on with Trista. Ryker loved it and did it a couple times

Then Avynlea took her turn with me. She spent most of the time with her head down but she had fun too.

Avynlea and I getting ready to get off.

Rylee was the last of the little kids to go (Kenedy would not do it becasue she said she did not trust her Dad to go slow, smart kid!) I was surprised that Rylee wanted to do this but on the tube she went and off we went. She also liked it and was really calm the entire ride.

We all took a rest and the kids started jumping in the water to cool off. Rylee wanted to get in and so this is what we did. She actually held onto my feet for quite a while, just chilling. She spent most of the time facing outward but I had her turn around so that I could take a picture.

Avynlea was so cute holding the orange flag that let other boaters know someone was in the water.

Kefford took this picture of me after he rejected my request to take one of us together. I guess just me is fine! This is my new swimming suit and when we were at roaring springs I had at least 4 different people compliment me on it and ask where i got it from. I love it!

This day was also our anniversary day. Kefford and I went out to breakfast together at IHOP which was alot of fun and later we went to the mall to wander and get ice-cream. It was fun to have those times just the two of us but it was also fun to break up the day and do something together as a family.

Nampa Water Park

On Friday Kenedy went to a pool party at her primary teachers house and so the rest of us headed over to the swimming park in Nampa.

I tried to get at least one picture of Breana but she absolutely would not let me. I had to laugh because the way she acted about it really reminded me of her Mom when she was a teenager, hiding behind books so her picture would not be taken! Too funny!

Avynlea wanted to go down the waterslide and so I stood at the bottom to help catch her. The first time she came down it was fine and fun. The second time she somehow got all twisted up cause when she shot out at the bottom she was upside down and backwards! She wouldn't do it again after that!

Ryker also enjoyed the waterslide, just as long as I was at the bottom to help him. He can swim but he is still a little nervous in the water!

It was alot of fun and it was really cheap, only $9 for all of us to get in. We will definitely do this one again, any and all are welcome to come with! :)

ice skating

Before I start in on our ice skating adventures I would like to share a quick little story. At the water park and in the kiddie area they have two teeter-totters for the kids to play on. Avynlea and Rylee wanted to go on them so I stood behind Rylee and helped her go up and down while Avynlea managed the other end. Well Avynlea must have wanted to move on to something else becasue all of a sudden she jumped off her end of the totter which caused Rylee's end to come crashing down....right onto my foot! I thought for sure it was broken it hurt soooo bad.

Thankfully it did not break but it bruised itself up pretty good. Watch out for those teeter totters, they are dangerous!

For Mutual on Wednesday night we took the young women ice-skating. Since Breana is here visiting I got to take her with me.

Of course you need to wear socks while ice-skating and so Bre and I decided to be festive and wear some of my Halloween socks!

Getting ready to go skate on the ice!

I just love my cute beehives. Courtney was very gun shy about skating and she hugged the wall the entire time. Megan being such a sweetie stuck by her friend and slowly went around the rink with her. Every once in a while Megan would skate out on her own but for the most part these girls stuck together! Love them!!

I was trying to do a classic ice-skating pose for the picture but I was very nervous about falling. Here my feet were starting to slide out from under me so I had to put my hands down on the ice to get some balance. But I did not fall, nope not once..Yay!

Do I look like a professional? Ha, maybe next time! :)

Cute girl Breana doing her ice-skaters pose. Breana did fall, about three times, but it's OK lots of people did, only not me :) he he he!
It was pretty cold, of course, in the rink but we had fun gliding around. We were definitely ready to go though, when it was time, back out into the warm sunshine
