Happy Birthday Kefford

 We celebrated Kefford's birthday a couple of days early because I was going to be in Utah watching Joshuas kids on his actual Birthday. At the time I agreed to miss his birthday and be in Utah because Kefford had told me that week was Young Mens Camp and he would be there on his birthday anyway. But then as it got closer he felt like he couldn't miss a lot of work so we wasn't going to be away on that day now. Welp. I felt bad, especially because it was his 50th Birthday,  but I thought the solution of celebrating a couple of days early was a good one. He got some new shorts, a hot wheels and some M&M's. He didn't want me to spend any money for his birthday saying that Costa Rica was his Birthday gift. Kenedy got him tickets to a Boise Hawks Baseball game through work and the game is on his Birthday which will be something fun for them to do together.

He requested an Angels Food cake and I made a homemade one using the eggs we got from the Heslop. It turned out really good and I was really proud of it. I get really excited when anything I make turns out good.

Susan decorated the office for Kefford's Birthday and made him wear a Birthday sash. Kefford was embarrassed by the attention and wore the sash for pictures but then took it off. I thought it was very sweet of her to give him a little birthday attention and make it a special day.

Sister Peterson Week 10

Mouse Droppings

Hi!

Not much is different! We are still doing a lot of knocking and unfortunately nothing crazy or funny happened. We did have co-district council and apparently our zone is the biggest in the mission.. it is pretty big haha. I will put a photo!

Trio life is fun! Weird but fun! Our apartment is definitely lively with 5 of us here. We think we might have a mouse but we might also be paranoid. I haven't seen it but one of the other sisters claims to have seen one. There is something that looks like mouse droppings... but hey. Out of sight out of mind. Maybe we can just get a cat..

We got a member referral that we plan on meeting with this week! It will be so good! If you could all start praying for Mariah and her family that would be wonderful. Hopefully next week I will have more to report from her!

The mission focus this transfer is charity. In my studies I decided to read more about the 2 Great Commandments... "love thy God... love thy neighbor as thyself..." that whole sha-bang. I just love this teaching from Jesus so much! As I start to align myself with Him I will be able to love more fully as He does. And my love for others (so doing service or saying nice things, or serving a mission) is an extension of my love for Him. The really cool thing about the 2 great commandments is they are actually 3 great commandments. Love God, Love thy neighbor, but also Love thyself. Make sure you love yourself too! You are a child of God! Why shouldn't you be loved!

Costa Rica Days 4 and 5

 Thursday morning Kefford and I went Kayaking with a couple of other resort guests and a guide. I had fun being in the kayak with Kefford and we made a good paddling team. Of course the scenery was beautiful and I loved being in the ocean. 

After kayaking we hung out tea the pool for a bit and then after lunch it started storming so we spent time in our room relaxing. For dinner we wanted to try something nicer so we went to one of the restaurants and we were seated outside because we did not have a reservation. I was ok with being outside, by that time the storm had blown over and it was a nice night. I ordered a hamburger and I do not know what it was made out of but it did not taste good to me at all. I was very disappointed.

The next morning we had breakfast and then we packed up our stuff because it was time for us to check out and fly home.

I had a lot of fun seeing Costa Rica and being with Kefford and I am looking forward t our next adventure, whenever and wherever that may be.

Costa Rica Day 3

The next day Kefford and I got up and got ready for a full day of fun we had planned. But first was a delicious breakfast. I love being able to go to the buffet and just get whatever food looks good. I will miss this when I get home. 

Kefford and I signed up to do a zipline tour which included a lot of extra activities. First stop was to see how they used to press the sugar cane to get the sugars out and it involved a very large Ox. Kefford was able to put some sugar cane in the press and I think he enjoyed doing it and realizing it is a bit harder than it looked.

After the sugarcane we watched a clay making demonstration which included wiping clay on the girls faces and then we hiked up to the ziplines.

Honestly the hike up was not that bad because we had such beautiful views to look at. 

On my first ride I started out in the trees and then all of a sudden the view opened up and I visibly gasped with how breathtaking it all was. The only other time we did ziplines was in Mexico and it was not that impressive because it was so dry and everything looked dead. But here in Costa Rica it was lush and green and so beautiful. I loved every ride we got taking us back down the mountain. On the last one I did it upside down and it was ok but I couldn't see the beautiful views and so I would not do that again. 

Next on our list of activities was to go down the natural water slide. Our guide got video of me and only me which was lucky for me since e I was able to get some screenshots from it. Kefford and I both enjoyed doing the waterslide.

We got fed lunch after the waterslide which was pretty good.

Then we went and sat in a sauna for about ten minutes. When we first got in it was hard for me to breath because of the heat but I told myself to breathe deep and relax and I was able to sit inside for the recommended 10 minutes. I honestly could have done longer and was trying to get everyone to agree to go longer but our guide pulled us out and took us to the mud pits where we spread mud on ourselves and each other. 

After pictures we rinsed all the mud off in very cold water and then were able to relax in the Hot Springs. There were a lot of different pools with varied degrees of temperature and t was fun to try them all.

After getting back to the Resort after a long and fun day we showered went to dinner and then went to bed.

Avynlea went to a pitBull concert with Paige Little, Natalie Juarez and Diana Juarez and she had a lot of fun being with her cheer besties again, I loved the picture she sent and was so happy that she got to spend time with her friends.
