Boy Scout Stuff

Last night was the Boy Scout Court of Honor for our Linder Ward Boy Scouts. So sad to say but normally I really don't like going to these Court of Honors, I think they are boring. But this one was pretty cool. They invited all the scouts, Cubs on up, to come and any member of our ward who is in the Military or those who serve our country, police, firefighter etc. First they had an ex Marine come up and talk to the boys about Honor. I loved hearing his speech and I hope the boys learned something from it. I think it is always cool to hear from our Military because they have such a great perspective on what it means to be honorable and being a good citizen.

They gave out the awards next and Ryker was able to get his Tenderfoot award. The Mom is always asked to come up so the Boy Scout can pin her with a special pin. I know it is because the Moms always deserve a lot of recognition for helping her son get through the program. I really don't feel like I deserve it because I don't do a lot. Kefford helps Ryker more and his Scout Leaders are awesome at planning their meetings so that the boys can earn what they need to. But I am the Mom and I do a lot in getting Ryker where he needs to be so I guess I will accept it. As Ryker was pinning me I told him he had to give me a big hug and smooch. All I got was the hug, but that's OK, I will take it!

The second part of the program was spent with the boys participating in a retiring of the Flag Ceremony. It was really cool to watch and so neat to see Ryker being able to participate in it. I love seeing the respect given to our flag because it shows respect to our country which is something we need to always have. It gets hard because I don't always agree with our political leaders and I sometimes think they might not be showing the best respect for our Country in how they are choosing to run it. But I love this Country and what it can represent and I love the history of our Country. The Men and Women who have sacrificed so much to make it what it is is awe inspiring. That is what I think of when I see the American Flag and how can you not love or respect it. So watching this ceremony and these boys showing so much respect and reverence was amazing!

After the Scouts burned the Flags anyone in the audience who wanted to were then invited to help burn the rest of the flags. I think the Flags that were burned by the scouts were whole Flags albeit tattered and old. The ones that were not part of the official ceremony and that the audience members could burn, I believe were parts of flags. I tried to get good pictures of my girls but they were not remembering the camera and so I only got the backs of them.

No problem, I made sure to get one when they sat down. I am glad that they got to help participate and be a part of the burnings. I know they thought that was really cool!

Choose the Right

Yesterday morning Kenedy was practicing some of the Hymns from our Hymn book and when she left for school she left the book open on Choose the Right. Avynlea sat down at the piano after Kenedy left and started picking her way through the song and pretty quickly was getting it and playing it. The next thing I know I hear loud singing and giggling and I look behind me to see Avynlea with the Hymn book singing and directing an imaginary choir. Every time she saw me peeking at her she would stop leading and just start giggling. So I very sneakily took a couple of pictures and then I asked her if she would smile for a picture. What a fun and silly girl!

Sunshine Days

Today I taught three classes of ballet. I am back teaching with The Dance Connection and I am so happy to be doing it again. My sweet little friend Aubree is able to be in one of my classes and I was so happy to have her there. She did so great and I think had a lot of fun. I was happy her Mom took a picture of us and then posted it so that I could take it for my own. :) I love teaching dance!
After my classes I hurried to Pinnacle Sports Grill to celebrate the birthday of another dear friend of mine. Leara Leasure is another lady that I have the privilege of visiting teaching and through going to visit her for the past couple of years she has become more then just someone I visit teach. She is definitely an elect lady who has taught me so much. I love her a lot and am so grateful I get to call her my friend. I had a lot of fun being with this group of Ladies where I was the youngest one by at least 30 years. Kenedy said a couple of weeks ago that my church friends are Old Ladies and Nursery kids. Ha! I love it, both my Nursery kids and the Older Sisters I have the privilege of being around. I told Kenedy these Sisters are secret gems and are so funny and fun to be around. Everyone should make friends with Older Sisters, they are the best!
For Family Home Evening Kefford wanted us to take advantage of the nice weather while we still have it since cold weather is fast approaching. I stopped of at Albertsons on my way to pick up the girls from school and got some chicken and other things for a picnic dinner. When we got home we gathered up our supplies and headed over to Tully Park. We had so much fun eating dinner in the sunshine and the kids liked playing at the park and we all enjoyed shooting some hoops. I sure love this little family of mine and am so glad we can take advantage of the warm weather while we have it.

Neighborhood Dog Show

My kids along with all of their neighborhood friends put on another neighborhood show. This time a dog show. Avynlea and Alex were the hosts and announcers again and everyone else paired up with a neighbor friend that had a dog. Ryler was out helping Kefford in Emmett and so he was not involved.
Rylee was with Gretchen and they had Gretchen's Grandma's dog Dutchess. Basically Avynlea and Alex would give a little bit of information about the breed of dog we were going to be seeing and then they would announce the handlers, who then came out and tried to get their dog to do some tricks. Some succeeded a little and most others did not. The one thing that everyone did was to get their dog with them onto the mini trampoline and then jump their dog. It was a cute show and another fun thing that brings the neighborhood together. I like that this is always a well thought out event that had been planned and practiced for a couple of weeks. Not a spur of the moment entertainment.

Kenedy is in acting class this year and the teacher has told them about a trip they are planning on taking at the end of the year to New York. This trip will cost about $2,000 and when Kenedy told me that I told her good luck with that. I just spent too much money for her to do cheer and I was not dishing out another cent. She really wants to go and has been brainstorming on ways to earn money. She set up  little lemonade sale at this show and sold cups of lemonade for a $1. She earned $16 doing that but still has a long way to go.

Selfies!

We went to go watch Kenedy cheer again and while I personally did not take any pictures I found this awesome picture that was posted on the meridian warriors cheer page. Yay! I have fun watching Kenedy cheer and I could see this week that she was a lot more confident and was stronger with her movements. Go Kenedy!
I was playing with my phone and after I took this picture Rylee wanted to jump in.

I was laughing at her squinty eyes and so I told her to try opening her eyes more and so she did and then I had to copy her and do it too.
Someone took this picture of me without my knowledge and I wish I would have known because I wouldn't have minded smiling for the picture.
I suspect the culprit was Kenedy since I found these two shots after the one of me.

and two more of me and Rylee
